ANU School of Legal Practice is the first Australian law school specialising in legal practice. Operating as ANU Legal Workshop for more than 40 years, it has been preparing generations of students with the practical insight and professional understanding needed to work as a lawyer in Australia.
Our ANU Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (ANU GDLP) is the school’s flagship practical legal training (PLT) program. It makes us the largest university provider of PLT in Australia. As the only Group of Eight university to offer such a program, it demonstrates the commitment of the ANU to offer study options for all stages of a legal career.
As an innovator in online education in PLT, the ANU GDLP provides accessible and flexible study options allowing students from across Australia and overseas to study with Australia’s top university, while balancing study with full-time employment or other commitments. We include student resources that are specific to different jurisdictions in Australia.
Many of our teaching staff also work as practising lawyers, ensuring our programs reflect current trends in legal practice and continue to meet the needs of employers. The result is an education experience that provides students with invaluable first-hand insight from some of the country’s leading legal practitioners and professionals. Our position as a leader in PLT has also seen us appointed as the providers of tailored practical legal training to top tier law firms and Australian Government departments.
ANU School of Legal Practice is a leader in researching lawyer wellbeing and in developing approaches to manage stress in student lawyers.
Whether you are a new graduate or a seasoned lawyer, the ANU School of Legal Practice has a large number of study options to help you improve your professional practice.
