Federal Court Research Associate

The Hon Justice Katrina Banks-Smith and the Hon Justice Craig Colvin invite applications from interested and suitably qualified persons for the position as their Research Associate at the Federal Court of Australia, Western Australia Registry (Perth) commencing on 10 January 2022.

The Research Associate performs a legal support and research role for both Judges. The majority of the work undertaken involves researching legal issues and preparing papers and notes to assist the Judges with their preparation and consideration of legal issues arising during trials and hearings, as well as proofing draft judgments. The Research Associate would also perform some of the tasks undertaken by the Judges' Associates when they are unavailable to assist the Judge in court or with administrative tasks. The position would suit a graduate or lawyer with some experience and an interest in legal and academic research. The level of remuneration is that of a Federal Court Staff level 5, on a non-ongoing, contract basis.
